Mittens Domestic Longhair Adult Female in Titusville, Florida

My story
Mittens has had an extremely rough life before we got her. At only 5 years old, she has been through it all. She came from a place where cats were dying from the awful conditions- she herself had lost some teeth (this is why her tongue sticks out sometimes) and she was quite sick. Although she had babies in the past, all of her babies had died from the horrible conditions. ? To make matters worse, when we took her to the vet, they discovered she had a dead baby stuck inside her abdomen which had to be removed?. Since Mittens has learned she is safe indoors and has been all fixed up, she has come leaps and bounds. She loves catnip bananas, and she LOVES juicy cat treats! She will come running when you shake the bag and will patiently wait for some. Sometimes she even meows a little when she wants more. ?? She is a quiet girl who likes to relax in her comfy beds and sunbathe. She is still mostly scared of being petted, but she is getting more comfortable with us every day. We think eventually she will warm up to being petted more when she has her own family that has earned her trust. She doesn’t seem to mind other dogs and cats that respect her space. She likes other cats that are friendly to her, but sometimes she can get a little nervous around them because she is used to them wanting to hurt her from when she was outside. She especially likes kittens because they remind her of the babies she lost. What Mittens needs after all she has been through is a kind, patient loving home who will give her time to continue adjusting to the good life. Will that be you? Will you be the one to give her the home she never dreamed she could have?
